Jamie Lee Curtis’ daughter Ruby shared about the frightening moment she chose to reveal her transgender identity to her parents last year.
Ruby, who is 25 years old, shared with People magazine about the moment she informed her parents, who are actor/director Christopher Guest and Curtis, 62. Her original plan was to inform them at their family residence in Los Angeles.
“I was frightened – simply the act of revealing something unknown about myself to them,” Ruby expressed. I felt intimidated, but I was not concerned. Throughout my whole life, they had always been very welcoming towards me.
Curtis mentioned that there were tears when she phoned her daughter after getting a text from Ruby post their home encounter.
The actress from “Halloween Kills” discussed her efforts to help Ruby while acknowledging her own errors during the process.
Curtis informed People that it is using a different language. Acquiring fresh vocabulary and terminology. I am a beginner. I am not one to act like I know a lot about it. I will mess up and make errors. I want to attempt to prevent making major errors.
She included, “However, if a single individual reads this, sees a photo of Ruby and myself, and thinks, ‘I am comfortable admitting that this is who I am,’ then it’s worth it.”
Curtis posted an image of the People article on her Instagram account, including a quote from her daughter from the interview.
It is important for all individuals to assist others. I believe it’s not just a problem within our home. Curtis wrote, quoting Ruby, that it should be a characteristic of humans. Ruby, I am happy to be your mom. Nowadays more than ever.
