With billionaire Elon Musk closing the deal to buy Twitter and firing the social media firm’s four top executives, scores of celebs quit the microblogging platform. The recent famous personality to delete their account is Musk’s ex-girlfriend and actress Amber Heard.

Last month, Musk reversed himself and offered to honour his original proposal to buy Twitter for USD 44 billion – a deal he had spent the previous several months trying to wriggle out of.

According to The Verge, Musk is planning to charge users USD 19.99 (over Rs 1600) for the new Twitter Blue subscription that brings extra features like “edit” and “undo” tweets.

Under the current plan, verified users would have 90 days to subscribe or lose their blue checkmark.

Now, as per reports, Amber, who was in the news for her defamation trial with ex-husband Johnny Depp has quit Twitter.

Earlier this year, following a six-week trial, a jury awarded Johnny Depp USD 10 million in compensatory damages and USD 5 million in punitive damages, finding that Heard had defamed him by referring to herself as a domestic abuse victim in a Washington Post op-ed.

In accordance with Virginia law, the punitive damages were reduced to USD 350,000, bringing the grand total to USD 10.35 million.

For Heard’s counterclaim, USD 2 million in compensatory damages were awarded to her by the jury, who found that Depp had defamed her through statements made by his attorney, Adam Waldman, to the press.

During the trial, the Tesla CEO responding to a tweet on Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s trial, Elon said, “I hope they both move on. At their best, they are each incredible.”

Elon Musk and Amber Heard had been in a brief relationship after the split from Johnny Depp. Musk and Heard split in 2017 after a year of dating. However, the couple rekindled their love in 2018 but gave up on each other after a few months.
