At 60, Harrison Ford fell in love with Calista Flockhart, a single mom of an adopted boy.

The “Indiana Jones” star devoted himself to raising his beloved’s son.

The actor adopted Liam later and, at 80, was seen at his graduation.

Harrison Ford, perhaps best known for his titular role in the “Indiana Jones” franchise, had been a heartthrob of many generations. However, he has not always been lucky in love.

Ford has been married three times, with his third marriage to Calista Flockhart seemingly standing the test of time. The couple exchanged vows in 2010 and share a beautiful family, which they recently celebrated.

Flockhart and Ford celebrated their son Liam’s graduation this weekend. They watched proudly as their son, among other learners, received his college diploma and cane from Amherst College.

The school’s website gave a reason for the canes, explaining that they were a metaphor for the support learners received during their time there.

After the ceremony, Flockhart and Ford posed for some pictures with their son. In one photo, Flockhart looked on as her husband and son beamed at the camera. Other photos showed Ford looking fondly at his son as he congratulated him on his big day.

Shortly after, Amherst Farmer’s Market posted pictures of Ford on Instagram, revealing that he and his wife had gone to the market after their son’s graduation. The caption read:

“A welcome again to Harrison Ford & Calista Flockhart for visiting the @amherst.farmers.market today! We wish them safe travels home and congrats to the new grad! Be safe…”

A vendor at the market also snapped a picture of the actor while talking to someone and posted it on their Instagram page. They revealed how shocked they were to see him there and have him at their stall.

While many people focused on Ford, like those at the Farmer’s Market, the “Air Force One” star has focused primarily on his wife and adopted son since 2010. Their love for one another has carried through the years and weathered many storms.

How Did Ford Fall in Love with A Single Mom with an Adopted Son?
Although Ford and Flockhart have only been married since 2010, their relationship began long before. In fact, in 2003, Ford spoke up about his relationship with Flockhart for the first time, confirming:

“I’m in love.”

The pair met at the 2002 Golden Globes, but Ford wasn’t looking for a relationship then. He said he sometimes felt lonely but didn’t want to do things only because he didn’t want to feel lonely. That was until he met Flockhart.

On the other hand, Flockhart had made a significant decision a year before the couple met. She wanted to adopt a baby, saying it had always been her desire. Talking about her baby boy, she gushed:

“I’m completely enchanted and awestruck.”

Yet this did not deter Ford from wanting to be with Flockhart. In fact, it gave him more to admire about his love. When asked what type of mother Flockhart was, Ford said she was the best because she had chosen motherhood and planned on raising Liam as a single mom.

Ford said it was a great responsibility Flockhart chose to take and confirmed that she had devoted her life to caring for Liam as best she could. He admitted he was happy he could also be part of Liam’s life.

Ford As a Father to Liam
Although Ford has other children, Liam is his youngest, and when the young man came into Ford’s life at Flockhart’s side, it made him less selfish. He also talked about what it was like to be the father of a young child again, saying:

“[Flockhart’s] brought a child back into my home. My youngest, other than Liam, is 17. It’s a wonderful opportunity to be part of a child’s growing up, which is always an endless springtime. You see the blossoming and the growing and the nurturing and the payoff.”

Though Ford had to get used to being a father again, he did not find it a difficult job. He confirmed that although he was getting older, he didn’t feel it. He instead felt like the father of a nine-year-old.

The star mentioned that his five older children taught him much about parenting. He first became a father at 25 and feels he had become better at parenting with age.

A source close to Ford once talked about what it was like for the actor to become a father to Flockhart’s adopted son:

“Harrison never thought he’d become a late-in-life dad, but it’s been a tremendous blessing to him. He has been mindful to give Liam his full attention.”

Ford and Flockhart lived happily with their son for many years before they decided it was finally time to tie the knot. They have lived in wedded bliss since then, with their son by their side.

Ford’s Family Life After the Wedding
Ford proposed to his longtime love in February 2009, popping the question on Valentine’s Day weekend. The couple was on a family vacation with their son at the time.

After their engagement, the couple declined to comment on the event. They remained private about their wedding and only revealed details after it happened.

The wedding was held in Santa Fe at the Governor’s Mansion. Former Governor Bill Richardson performed the ceremony under New Mexico’s Chief Justice, Charles W. Daniels. Daniels declared the couple officially married, while Richardson and his wife were witnesses for the couple.

Liam, who was nine then, also attended the small ceremony. Shortly after the couple tied the knot, Ford legally adopted Liam as his own son. A source close to the couple confirmed:

“Harrison and Calista are all about family life. Their life before and after they got married is focused on Liam.”

Another source confirmed that Flockhart and Ford are loving and down-to-earth as a family. Congratulations to Liam for graduating college and Flockhart and Ford on their son’s success.
