Meghan Markle and her husband, Prince Harry, have not had the best relationship with the royal family since leaving royal life in January 2020. The couple settled in Montecito, California, and now live a very different life from the one in the UK, raising their two children, Lilibet and Archie.

It didn’t take long after the couple left UK soil before they decided to speak out. Their now-infamous Oprah interview, a Netflix series, and Harry’s book Spare became top news stories worldwide, and the Sussexes wasted no time accusing the royal family members of all sorts of things. The couple made several bombshell claims about what they had been through, and it’s easy to say that laid the foundation for what is left today regarding any form of contact between the two sides.

Meghan has only been back in the UK a few times since leaving royal life with Harry, but in May, there is a chance she will return. The visit could mean the beginning of a reconciliation between Harry and Meghan and Prince William and Kate Middleton. But it might be a challenging road ahead—as a royal expert now claims Meghan Markle has two demands, including a “groveling apology,” before ever making amends. 

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had barely settled in the US before they appeared in the high-profile interview with Oprah Winfrey. It was only the beginning of an intense feud between the Sussexes and the royal family, and on the UK side, Prince William and Kate Middleton stood on the front lines.

Harry and Meghan starred in their own Netflix mini-series, and later, following the release of Harry’s book Spare, the battle was on.

Prince William and Kate Middleton were featured in the book as Harry revealed many things about the royals. He gave his view of how his life as a “spare” within the royal sphere wasn’t at all pleasant.

Meanwhile, royal family members, including Prince William, decided not to speak out or comment on Harry’s outbursts about them. As of today, Prince William will talk to his brother when he gets a sincere apology, according to Ingrid Seward, editor-in-chief of Majesty Magazine.

“William would be upset that Harry yet again has chosen to make this visit to see his father a PR opportunity,” she told The Sun. “As far as William is concerned, he has absolutely no interest in speaking to Harry until Harry behaves like a gentleman and apologizes for the years of rudeness and slurs he has aimed at William and the Princess of Wales.”

“William must be privately furious thinking over all the years how he supported Harry, and at this one moment in his life when his 75-year-old father and wife of 13 years are both potentially seriously unwell, all Harry can think about is Harry and using it as an opportunity to announce his arrival and expect to see William.”

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle both attended Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral. The Duchess didn’t join her husband for King Charles’ coronation last year.

“Megan doesn’t feel guilty about Kate”

Still, Harry attended the coronation ceremony at Westminster Abbey but quickly left to fly back to the US. If reports were to be believed, the royals were thrilled that he left immediately.

King Charles is most likely the one who is most keen on seeing his two sons make amends, not only for his own sake but also for their future. Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle were seen as the future of the monarchy together with their husbands, but their time side-by-side didn’t end pretty at all.

So, is a reconciliation between the two couples even possible? According to royal expert Tom Quinn, it will never happen.

Speaking to the Mirror, Quinn said that Meghan felt that Kate didn’t support her enough during her time as a working royal. Meanwhile, the Duchess, he claims, also thought that the two should have bonded as they both had backgrounds as “outsiders,” married into the royal family.

“Megan doesn’t feel guilty about Kate, because she feels that Kate should’ve been the one person in the royal family to back her against every difficulty,” Tom Quinn told the Mirror. “Apart from anything else, Meghan knew Kate was an outsider, so she just couldn’t understand why Kate always towed the royal line rather than supporting her, Meghan, the other outsider.”

Harry and Meghan reached out to Kate Middleton to send their best wishes after her abdominal surgery. Meanwhile, it is said that the couple found out about Kate’s cancer through the news.

Some argue that Kate Middleton’s health could be a way of making amends between her and Meghan Markle. However, Quinn argues that their relationship is too “poisonous” to recover from.

“Kate’s cancer diagnosis has been a real shock for Meghan, but she can see no way to patch up the relationship simply because it has become so poisonous,” he added. “She also doesn’t want people saying that she is trying to make things up with Kate just because Kate is ill. Meghan still feels Kate was in the wrong and should apologize before they try to build bridges.”

Prince Harry & Meghan Markle to visit UK?

Prince Harry made a quick visit to the UK after his father, King Charles, received his cancer diagnosis. The two reportedly had a short meeting at Sandringham, but Prince William did not attend. The two brothers don’t speak to each other, and even though Harry allegedly offered to step in and help the royals with engagements during this challenging time, William would never agree to it.

Soon, the Sussexes could be back on UK soil, but it has nothing to do with the royal family. On May 8, the Invictus Games anniversary event will take place, and a service will be held at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London.

Prince Harry, who founded the Invictus Games, will attend. According to Express, Meghan is “listed as a guest” for the event.

Sources told the tabloid, “Both Harry and Meghan are listed as guests, and a speech has been scheduled, but there is still a question mark over whether Meghan will make an appearance. Her name has been penciled in as a TBC (to be confirmed).”

While Harry and Meghan’s and William and Kate’s relationships are at rock bottom, Tom Quinn claims that, surprisingly enough, the Prince and Princess of Wales are the ones who try to fix things.

In another interview with the Mirror, the royal expert claimed that Prince William and Kate Middleton “suggested” that Harry and Meghan Markle should bring their children with them in connection to the Invictus Games event.

“William and Kate have suggested that Meghan and Harry bring the children and that the two couples and their families try to make up, but the suggestion is not leading anywhere so far,” Quinn told the Mirror.

Meghan Markle fears for her children’s safety in the UK

While Meghan, as per Express, is currently listed as a guest, it appears that she has made a U-turn, which concerns her children.

A source told OK! Magazine that while Meghan had hopes of going to the UK with Harry in May, she doesn’t want to bring Archie and Lilibet with her because she fears for her children’s safety.

“It’s now got to the point where Meghan doesn’t want to come to the UK with the children. She just doesn’t feel safe. The situation is now about whether the family should attend with increased security or Harry should go it alone,” the source said.

Moreover, Harry reportedly begged his wife to reconsider, saying, “I don’t want to do this alone.”

“Harry doesn’t want to keep making solo trips to the UK,” the source continued. “He would prefer it if the entire family made regular visits to see his family and build bridges, but there is so much going on behind the scenes that it just isn’t possible at the moment. “

“Both Harry and Meghan were planning to come to the UK, but when the exact time and date of their appearance were made public, she started to rethink that idea,” the source said.

Meghan Markle has ‘two demands’ before reconciling with William & Kate

The children’s safety isn’t Meghan’s only concern about returning to the UK. The OK! Magazine source stated that the Duchess doesn’t want to “be thrown back into an anxiety-fueled visit to England where she feels like she’s not wanted.” At the same time, Harry is said to be very torn about how to support his wife while also simultaneously supporting Kate Middleton, his sister-in-law.

As mentioned, Prince William is furious at his brother for what could be described as “selling secrets” about the royal family. The fact that the Duke brought Kate Middleton into his book didn’t improve things, and William doesn’t want anything to do with his brother after ‘trowing the family under the bus.’

As one can imagine, the infected feud isn’t going to solve itself. Prince William demands an apology from Harry, and Harry also wants one from his brother.

Once again, royal expert Tom Quinn explains that two demands prevent reconciliation between the two couples—and Meghan Markle isn’t ready to accept things as they are.

“Harry would like a reconciliation, but supports his wife completely and until she feels that the royal family have been sufficiently nice to her – and grovelingly apologised for the past – it’s not going to happen,” Quinn told the Mirror, as per Daily Record.

Moreover, the royal expert claimed that Meghan is blocking Harry from engaging in peace talks.

“There has been a shift here since Kate’s illness Harry and Meghan do feel they need to extend an olive branch, but Meghan’s sense of grievance is still preventing anything really meaningful happening. Illness often brings warring family members together, and there have been hopes at Kensington Palace that Kate’s illness might do it,” the royal expert explained, adding there’s “no way” Meghan is bringing her children to the UK.

“William and Kate have suggested that Meghan and Harry bring the children and that the two couples and their families try to make up, but the suggestion is not leading anywhere so far,” Quinn added.

The world has sadly witnessed the passing of the oldest living conjoined twins, Lori and George Schappell, at the age of 62 in their hometown of Pennsylvania.

Lori and George Schappell, born on 18 September 1961 in Reading, Pennsylvania, shared a unique bond, being conjoined at the skull with separate bodies, with 30% of their brain and essential blood vessels connected.

Their remarkable journey ended on April 7 at the hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, as reported in their obituary. The cause of their death has not been disclosed

George, who had spina bifida, relied on a mobility device, while Lori took on the role of pushing and steering his wheeled stool, facilitating their movement together. Theirs was the rarest form of conjoined twinning, affecting only 2% to 6% of conjoined twins, as reported by NBC Today.

In 2007, George made history by transitioning, making the Schappells the first same-sex conjoined twins to identify as different genders, according to Guinness World Records. During their visit to London in 2011 to commemorate their 50th birthday, George discussed his journey as a transgender man with The Sun, saying: “I have known from a very young age that I should have been a boy.”

Both siblings graduated from the Hiram G Andrews Center, pursuing careers at Reading hospital afterward. Despite their physical connection, they pursued individual interests and hobbies. George followed his passion for music as a country singer, entertaining audiences worldwide, while Lori excelled as a tenpin bowler.

Remarkably, the Schappells maintained an independent lifestyle since the age of 24. Initially living in an institution, they later shared a two-bedroom apartment, each sibling having their own room. They highlighted the importance of privacy, revealing that despite their physical attachment, they could still find solitude when needed.

Rejecting the idea of separation, which wasn’t possible during their time, the Schappells embraced their unique bond.

“Would we be separated? Absolutely not,” George said in a 1997 documentary, “My theory is: why fix what is not broken?”

So what happened to Elizabeth Montgomery after her run as Samantha Stephens in the 1960s sitcom?

In 2023, the talented actress would have celebrated her 90th birthday, but let’s take a look back at her career in film and television before her untimely death in 1995.

Elizabeth Montgomery was born in Los Angeles on April 15, 1933 to a Broadway actress and film star, so acting was in her blood since birth.

“Dad tells me I often climbed on his lap after dinner and remarked, ‘I’m going to be an actress when I grow up.’ I don’t know whether he encouraged me or not, but he told me he would humor me and would tell me to wait and see what happened when I grew up,” Elizabeth said in 1954 interview with the Los Angeles Times.

Her father, Robert Montgomery, was a very popular and acclaimed actor.

”I’ll be real honest and say that Daddy did help me get a break in TV and I’m really grateful for his assistance and guidance. He’s my most severe critic, but also a true friend as well as loving father.”

Elizabeth attended school in California before moving to New York City, where she attended the Spence School. After graduating, she attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts for three years.

When she was still a teenager, she made her television debut on her father’s show, Robert Montgomery Presents. She continued to make several appearances on his show.

By 1953, Elizabeth had made her Broadway debut starring in Late Love. Two years later in 1955 she appeared in her first film, The Court-Martial of Billy Mitchell, and then two years later she returned to Broadway.

As her career continued to advance, Elizabeth found love, but it never lasted long.

In 1954 she married Frederick Gallatin Cammann, but the couple divorced a year later. She married Gig Young, an award-winning actor, in 1956, and the two stayed married until they divorced in 1963.

While filming Johnny Cool, Elizabeth met William Asher, a director and TV producer. Not only would he prove to be beneficial to her career, but the two also hit it off romantically.

They married in 1963 and had three children together.

Starring in Bewitched

While Elizabeth Montgomery did star in shows such as Alfred Hitchcock Presents, The Loretta Young Show, The Untouchables, and The Twilight Zone, perhaps her most well-known role was as the nose-twitching witch Samantha Stephens on Bewitched.

The supernatural comedy, which aired for eight seasons from 1964 to 1972, propelled Elizabeth into the spotlight.

Suddenly she became a household name and everyone was trying to replicate Samantha’s famous nose twitch.

”I’d never thought much about a series because I liked the idea of picking a script I liked with a character I thought I could sustain for an hour. In a series, you live with one character day in and day out – and you only hope it will be one that will not drive you crazy,” Elizabeth told AP in 1965.

Following Bewitched‘s run and the end of her marriage with Asher, Elizabeth went on to star in many made-for-television movies, many which were in stark contrast to her previous role on Bewitched.

She starred in Mrs. Sundance (1973), A Case of Rape (1974), The Legend of Lizzie Borden (1975), Black Widow Murders (1993), The Corpse Had a Familiar Face (1994), and Deadline for Murder: From the Files of Edna Buchanan (1995).

It was during the filming of Mrs. Sundance that she met Robert Foxworth. The two remained together until Elizabeth’s death in 1995, though they didn’t get married until 1993.

“Before Jane Seymour, before Lindsay Wagner and before Valerie Bertinelli, Elizabeth was the first Queen of the TV movies; she went from queen of the witches to queen of the TV movie and it was no longer a struggle to break away from Bewitched,” Herbie J Pilato, author of two books on Elizabeth Montgomery, said.

Unfortunately, her career was cut short when on May 18, 1995 after a long battle with colon cancer.

According to the Los Angeles Times, her family reported she was 57 when she died, though many places listed her birth year as 1933, making her 62 at the time of her death.

The actress had battled the disease for years and had believed she was cancer-free, but while filming Deadline for Murder: From the Files of Edna Buchanan, she became ill.

By the time she was able to get checked out in March 1995, it was too late. The cancer had spread to her liver.

Elizabeth died in her sleep at her home in Beverly Hills with her husband and three children by her side. One month after her passing, a memorial was held at the Canon Theatre in Beverly Hills. Famous jazz musician Herbie Hancock played music and the author Dominick Dunne, Elizabeth’s lifelong friend, spoke about their early years of friendship when they lived in New York City.

The Bewitched star had her body cremated at Westwood Village Memorial Park Cemetery in Los Angeles.

On playing a variety of characters throughout her career, Elizabeth said in a 1992 interview:

“They all have different kinds of ‘feels’ to them and that’s probably one of the reasons why I’ve done them. I get letters from people saying one of the things they like best about what I’ve done since ‘Bewitched’ is that they never know what I’m going to do next.”

Jordan Driskell is a young father of five quintuplets. His quintuplets happen to be 5 years old. As you can imagine, looking after 5 children who are the same age can be quite taxing. Especially at 5-years-old when a child is curious and likes to explore.

31-year-old dad, Jordan Driskell decided to find a creative solution to his problem. He bought leashes meant for children to control his rambunctuous little kids when they are in public together.

In the past, Driskell had a 6-seat stroller that they used for their big family. However, that grew tiresome very quickly because the kids would be bothered when inside it. The stroller was also incredibly inconvenient to take anywhere.

This helps the little kids get to wander and explore their surroundings when the family goes out without their dad losing sight or control of them and hence keep them safe!

Driskell posted a video of the family’s outing to the acquarium that caused a lot of negative feedback directed towards the parents. The video of the kids on leashes went viral with over 3 million views. Hundreds of people commented about how the children were not animals and hence should not have been leashed.

Others commented, “If you can’t manage the pressure, don’t have so many kids.”

Other offered disdain masked as advice, “Can’t you just properly train your children?” Discuss to them why fleeing is risky.”

Dr. Deborah Gilboa, an expert in parenting and adolescent development had a different opinion. She does not think a leash will make your child think they are an animal. And if the alternative to a leash is to stay at home, then of course, the leash is a much better option!

Dr. Gilboa said a leash is a great tool for younger children or neuro-diverse children to be controlled in a public environment. However, she said that if a neurotypical child is not off a leash by the age of eight and nine, and hence has not developed their listening skills, that might be troublesome.

By then, parents should be able to effectively communicate with children verbally instead of relying on tools like leashes.

Parents should have the freedom to parent the way they want without facing unneccesary judgement from society.

Kristin Pitzen, a teacher at Newport Mesa School District in Orange County, posted a now deleted video on TikTok explaining that she removed the American flag from her classroom “because it made me uncomfortable.”

“I packed it away and I don’t know where, and I haven’t found it yet,” she whispered into the camera while giggling.

She then said that when the Pledge of Allegiance – a sign of loyalty to the country – is read in the mornings, she instructs her class to: “Stand if you feel like it, don’t stand if you feel like it, say the words if you want, you don’t have to say the words.”

“So, my class decided to stand but not say the words. Totally fine. Except for the fact that my room does not have a flag,” she said with unrestrained laughter.

After, she describes a situation when one of her students asked what he should look at while reciting the patriotic oath since there is no American flag in the classroom.

Attempting to hold back laughter, she exclaimed: “In the meantime, I tell this kid, ‘We do have a flag in the class that you can pledge your allegiance to.’ And he like, looks around and goes, ‘Oh, that one?’”

The camera then shifts to the wall where the pride flag is hanging.

Pushing pride

This wasn’t the only time she pushed her agenda on her pupils.

In another now-deleted video, Pitzen showed her decorated classroom for pride month with various flags.

“I pledge allegiance to the queers,” she said in the video.

She added: “I love you all very much – for the people who are out, who aren’t out. You’re appreciated. You’re loved. You’re enough. I support you. I got you.”

A symbol of freedom

The community, and school board, did not appreciate or love the teacher indoctrinating the pupils with her beliefs.

The video quickly gained attention and prompted backlash from people who felt that Pitzen’s actions were inappropriate and disrespectful to the American flag.

In response, several parents plugged the school’s lawn with flags, with one mother saying: “We just heard the school was short some flags, so we decided we’d help them out to show our patriotism.”

Michele Vaughn, whose son is in the military, continued: “I’d like to share with her, if she doesn’t know the importance of respecting the flag.”

Meanwhile, the online population was also enraged over Pitzen’s actions.

One netizen reminded Pitzen the flag is a living piece of history that symbolizes the freedom she enjoys today: “I don’t think you really you get it, teach them it’s for the people who gave you the freedom and happiness you have now.”

A second shared: “You stand for the people who fought to keep freedom and you don’t understand how good we have it, and to insult the flag which stands for our country?”

“Maybe she’d like to live in Afghanistan,” added a third.

Since the clip was posted in 2021, Pitzen – who has since deleted all her social media accounts – “is no longer in the classroom” and the investigation is ongoing.

The incident ignited the debate over issues such as freedom of expression, respect for national symbols, and the role of educators in promoting inclusivity and diversity in schools. It remains to be seen what further actions, if any, will be taken by the school district in response to the situation.

The twins became so popular that the writers behind ”Full House” began writing special storylines just for Michelle. Mary-Kate and Ashley ended up staying on the show until it concluded in 1995.

Privately, Mary-Kate & Ashley was said to be very shy in school and they were even placed into separate classrooms because they depended on one too much, according to certain teachers.

In retrospect, Mary-Kate Olsen has talked openly about her upbringing as a child actress, and how she regrets that she was in “Full House”.

She said that she and her sister were like ”little monkey performers” in front of the cameras:

”I look at old photos of me, and I don’t feel connected to them at all … I would never wish my upbringing on anyone,” Mary-Kate explained in an interview with the magazine Marie Claire.

Parents divorced

”Full House” was not the only thing that ended in 1995. The same year, Mary-Kate and Ashley’s parents divorced. The twins were left heartbroken and it was a difficult a time for the whole family.

But the show had to go on and the sisters started to focus on new projects and movies. They worked harder than any children should have to do at that age.

As 6-year-olds, they founded and became CEOs of their own production company, Dualstar. Even today, 30 years later, the twins are still CEOs of that same company.

In the following years, they shot almost 30 movies, most of them being straight-to-VHS films. Mary-Kate and Ashley also recorded music albums, music videos and released a book series. Before they turned 10, Mary-Kate and Ashley were the youngest millionaires in the United States to make their own money.

Last movie together

2004 was a sad year for all fans who appreciated Mary-Kate and Ashley’s movies. Back then, the twins decided to release their last film, ”New York Minute”. Sadly, critics didn’t like the movie at all and the sisters announced that they were leaving Hollywood to focus on their careers as fashion designers and establish their own identities.

“We’ve been there, we’ve done that, we started out that way,” Mary-Kate told British Vogue.

“But this is the way we chose to move forward in our lives: to not be in the spotlight, to really have something that speaks for itself.”

In the early 2000s, the twins became increasingly interested in fashion and nowadays run two clothing brands with their own designs, ”Elizabeth and James” and ”The Row”.

Their fabulous clothing has become known around the world.

“If you want things to be perfect or beautiful, it’s a lot of hard work,” Mary-Kate said.

“Nothing comes easy. That’s just the way we were raised; that’s what we believe is necessary to do something different.”

Mary-Kate and Ashley have managed to shape their their own, separate careers – even though they continue to work together from time to time.

People also began to see a clearer difference between the twins – Mary-Kate experimented a lot with her style and became known for her slightly daring, bohemian look. Ashley, meanwhile, dyed her hair darker and it became easier to separate them.

Dated Heath Ledger

But despite all the millions and all the success, the sisters have also had setbacks in life. In 2008, the whole world was shaken by actor Heath Ledger’s tragic death. It was even harder for Mary-Kate, who is said to have been dating Ledger at the time.

Mary-Kate has also fought against eating disorders and anorexia, something that the tabloids liked to speculate about.

Today, however, Mary-Kate is feeling better, thanks to the help she received after she checked into rehab for six weeks in 2014.

”I think it’s really important to be able to talk when something’s wrong. I learned at a really young age that if you don’t talk about it, it can drive you insane,” she said in 2010.

Marriage and husband

Today, Mary-Kate is married to Nicolas Sarkozy, half-brother of France’s former president, Nicolas Sarkozy.

The couple started dating in 2012 and got married in New York in 2015.

They tied the knot at a very unique and private ceremony. Overall, Mary-Kate tries to keep her personal life very private. The guests at her wedding were not even allowed to bring their cellphones to the ceremony, for example.

The Olsen twins’ little sister, Elizabeth Olsen, has really invested in a career in Hollywood and is embracing the acting lifestyle.

Elizabeth’s major break came in 2011, when she starred in the independent thriller drama ”Martha Marcy May Marlene”. Since that success, Elizabeth has continued to star in many blockbusters and her sisters sometimes show up at her premieres.

According to her, Mary-Kate and Ashley have always been great role models for her.

”It’s always felt as though [Mary-Kate and Ashley] have been women, while I’ve been the kid. But we’re very close and I look up to them a lot. I wasn’t really affected by their fame until I went to college. People would expect me to be partying and all sorts of stuff. It was really strange,” Elizabeth told Daily Telegraph.

As mentioned, the twins want to keep their private life very private and they rarely do interviews.

Rarely seen on the red carpet

And who can blame them? For so much of their lives, the twins have been hunted by photographers, fans and stalkers.

“We’ve spent our whole lives trying to not let people have that accessibility,” Mary-Kate explained in a 2011 interview.

Today, Mary-Kate and Ashley let their clothes, fashion lines and companies speak for themselves – they don’t have to be seen on the red carpet all the time. Sometimes they might show up at fashion galas and events, but there’s not much left of those cute twin sisters who took the ’90s by storm.

They now live their lives in different places and have grown up to be beautiful, independent women who stand firm for themselves.

But they will always have a special bond, like all twins.

”Our bond is really beyond words. I know when she’s hurting, I know when she’s going through something,” Ashley told Times of India.

“I know when she’s happy – whether I’m with her or not, I know,” she added.
