This famous singer was born on January 19, 1946. She is the fourth of twelve children and was born into a life far from the glitz of Nashville.

The celebrity’s mother was also a singer, who taught her Elizabethan ballads and church music. As for her father, she described him as a smart, hard-working man who had a good head on his shoulders.

She revealed in a 2016 interview that her dad built a life for them “with his hands and a strong back.” He never had a formal education and worked hard his whole life.

Also, like her, the award-winning star’s siblings dabbled in music growing up. The family had formed a band and she recalled singing in church with all her brothers and sisters.

Additionally, although the star disliked doing chores, she loved living in the misty mountains with her loved ones. The public figure admitted, “Of course, not everything was perfect but I prefer to remember the best of times.”

The girl who grew up in a shack in the small town of Locust Ridge, Tennessee is none other than Dolly Parton. Before the world knew her, Parton and her eleven siblings shared a small 1-bedroom log cabin in nearby Sevierville.

She and her family lived in a cramped two-room home during her childhood, which was a stark contrast to her later life. This house, devoid of electricity and running water, was where Parton and her family learned the values of love and kinship, beyond material wealth.

The cabin, although relatively small in size, has a kitchen with a table that can accommodate six people. It features a stove, a small pantry, and a washing basin positioned between the kitchen and a bedroom.

There is also a two-thirds wall that separates the kitchen from the one bedroom in the house, which still stands today in Locust Ridge.

The family’s humble abode lacked basic amenities. They relied on fireflies in jars for light and used newspapers on walls for insulation from the biting cold.

Despite this, Parton, Miley Cyrus’s godmother, recalls never feeling poor. Instead, she cherishes memories of family unity softening the harshness of their situation.

Parton has often reminisced about the challenges of growing up in such confined quarters. “We were poor but I never felt poor. We always had food, a roof over our heads, and clothes on our backs,” she said.

Still, she and her siblings desired more but their parents would remind them of how other families had it worse. Parton also detailed how the family lived together, sharing that the kids had to sleep very close together, with several siblings in a bed. This and the shared responsibilities formed a strong bond between them.

She mentioned how crowded it was in their home, as the kids teased and fought a lot. But they remained a wholesome family nonetheless and spent much of their time outside. This was because the cabin was small, which made it difficult for all to enjoy being indoors.

As the fourth eldest of the kids, the star had to help care for the younger siblings in any way she could. Parton recalled how she and her loved ones bathed once a week. She used to bathe every night and it was a big deal for her in high school because she wanted to be clean.

The cold winters were particularly tough as the Partons used newspapers for insulation. “The kids peed on me every night,” the actress said in a 1978 interview.

She revealed the lengths they went to stay warm. “That was the only warm thing we knew in the wintertime. That was almost a pleasure — to get peed on — because it was so cold,” Parton added.

She washed every night and once she got into the bed, the kids would urinate. She had to get up every morning to repeat the process. Thankfully, the summertime was a sense of relief for the family as they used to go by the nearby river to wash.

When Parton was only nine years old, one of her younger brothers, Larry, sadly died as an infant. “There is a lot of heartache and stuff that goes on with that,” she said of his passing.

Life has since turned out differently for the now-celebrated country music star. Despite her immense success, Parton’s residence reflects her grounded personality.

In 1999, she purchased the property she resides in, located in Brentwood, Nashville, for $400,000. The businesswoman shares the abode with her beloved husband, Carl Dean, whom she married in 1966.

Though bought at a modest price, this vintage-themed home has amenities and charm. The house features a tennis court and pool, illustrating her love for fun. It also includes a personal chapel and a farm which echo her strong ties to her rural upbringing and spiritual life.

During the recent pandemic, Parton showed more of her home life in many media appearances. Her vibrant and colorful kitchen serves as the heart of her household.

Last holiday season, the room had red wreaths and red and white gingham curtains. It also had festive decorations which added warmth and character.

The kitchen has modern appliances and white cupboards, keeping a sleek yet homey feel. Before, the kitchen had sported a pink theme, from her artwork to her cooking utensils.

Parton once invited fellow actress Reese Witherspoon to her house back in 2018. At the time, they worked together by filming the first episode of Witherspoon’s YouTube series, “Shine On.”

The pair filmed the episode in Parton’s kitchen which was less colorful than today. The space features white wooden cupboards and a brown island with marble countertops.

The Grammy Award winner’s kitchen also has silver appliances including two dishwashers, a double oven, and a double fridge. Her living spaces are as inviting. One living room features a cream leather armchair, a small mirrored side table, and a bubble lamp.

Another showcases purple and white Christmas trees, creating a festive atmosphere around a cozy cream armchair. It also features a brown sofa with burgundy and brown patterned cushions, including a floral burgundy rug.

The white paneled walls are adorned with new artwork and the addition of candles on a wooden coffee table enhances the ambiance. Parton also has a dedicated music room, highlighting her storied career. It has a black piano, cream walls, green carpets, and floral blinds.

This room, housing her vast collection of awards, is a testament to her success and a large painting shows this. It celebrates her milestone: selling 100 million records worldwide.

This room has wooden furniture and patterned wallpaper. As for her hallway, it has light yellow paint and a wooden stair banister. She also has a retro wooden side dresser in the space and a glass candle lantern in the corner.

Dolly Parton’s roots continue to shape her. “Family is everything to me,” she said, expressing the deep impact of her upbringing on her life and work.

The philanthropist added that her family is her greatest love and that what she does, has an element of loved ones somewhere. She fills her music with tales of her Tennessee mountain home and the values she grew up with.

Parton’s journey was from a small, newspaper-insulated cabin to a comfortable, well-appointed home. It is more than a story of financial success. It shows the lasting power of family, resilience, and the ability to turn adversity into art.

Royal fashion has long been characterized by its conservative dress codes and strict rules. These protocols, steeped in tradition, aim to uphold the dignity of the monarchy. They reflect a sense of decorum befitting royal engagements.

The royal wardrobe is typically expected to be modest, steering clear of any fashion choices that could be perceived as provocative. This includes the visibility of cleavage, which is deemed inappropriate.

Diana, Princess of Wales, known for her grace and tact, would often use her evening bag as a shield against the invasive cameras of the paparazzi while stepping out of her car.

The Queen herself adopted a clever technique to prevent any wardrobe malfunctions. Remember the incident in 2011 when Princess Catherine’s skirt billowed up during a visit to the Royal Airforce?

To circumvent such occurrences, Stewart Parvin, the Queen’s designer, ingeniously sewed weights into the hemlines of her outfits. The weights ensured the skirts remained in place despite the wind.

It’s important to note that royals rarely, if ever, intentionally flout dress protocols. In her book “HRH: So Many Thoughts on Royal Style,” Elizabeth Holmes notes that the royal family is supported by professionals who ensure they are never captured in attire that deliberately contravenes established fashion guidelines.

Holmes emphasizes that, despite their fame, these individuals are not free to express themselves as celebrities might; they represent the family and the Crown in their public life. This distinction underscores the balance they must maintain between personal expression and royal duty.

Her beachwear collection was as extensive as it was iconic. During her honeymoon on the Royal Yacht Britannia with Prince Charles, privacy was paramount, and cameras were strictly prohibited. However, as the 1980s progressed, the paparazzi frequently captured her during her winter getaways in the Caribbean and summer retreats in the Mediterranean.

Diana transformed the image of what it means to be a public figure, blending personal style with royal elegance. Her influence as a fashion icon continues to inspire and resonate, affirming her timeless status as a fashion icon.

When Derek found fresh flowers at his wife Alice’s grave every week, he assumed it was the work of one of her students because she had worked as a teacher all her life. But one day, he saw a little boy sitting there and discovered the truth his wife had kept hidden for so long.

Alice Miller was 87 years old when she died. She had been married for 58 years to her husband Derek, who was seven years younger than her. However, God did not bless them with children, and after Derek noticed how fertility treatments were affecting Alice, he told her that they were enough for each other.

Alice had always been a loving wife to him, and he cherished their relationship equally. In fact, Derek had often wished God would take them together, so no one would be left alone to mourn. However, fate had other plans for them, and Alice died of cancer.

One year had passed, and Derek could still feel the immense pain of losing his wife. He was in deep mourning. He would visit Alice’s gravesite every weekend after attending the Sunday service at the nearby church.

One day, he noticed that someone had placed fresh flowers on Alice’s grave. It was her favorite flowers. Derek thought they were most likely from one of her students. However, when he returned the following week and the week after that, there was always a new set of flowers.

Curious about who was leaving flowers at his wife’s grave, he began visiting the cemetery every day. Then one Sunday, he saw a little boy sitting beside Alice’s grave. He sat there in silence, motionless, not uttering a word. Derek decided to approach him.

“What’s your name, young man? And what are you doing here?” he asked the child gently. But the boy did not respond. He turned around and looked at him, then again turned in the direction of Alice’s grave.

Wondering who the boy was, Derek’s head ran with the weirdest suspicions.

“Are you here by yourself? Did you know Alice?” he inquired again, hoping for an answer, but the boy’s response was the same.

Suddenly, Derek heard a woman’s voice behind him. “He might not answer to you, Mr. Miller. Let me try talking to him.”

Derek turned around and saw a woman, somewhat in her late 30s, approaching from the church’s direction and holding Alice’s favorite flowers in her hands.

“Are you okay, Michael?” she gently asked the boy. “Maybe you should go and play with your friends. I’ll meet you soon. Would you like to do that?” The boy nodded his head and walked away with his head bowed down.

“So you’re the one who’s been leaving flowers on my wife’s grave?” Derek asked the woman after the boy left. “Did you know my wife?”

“Yes, Mr. Miller,” the woman said with a smile. “Would you mind if we take a seat? There’s a lot I’d like to tell you.”

Derek had no idea why the woman said that, but he followed her to a park near the cemetery where Michael was playing with his friends. Then the woman revealed the whole story to Derek.

“I know it may come as a surprise to you,” she said as she watched Michael run around the park, “but I’m your wife’s granddaughter. My name is Melissa Roberts.”

“What?!” Derek was astounded. “But Alice and I never had children, and we never adopted one.”

“I know, Mr. Miller,” Melissa admitted. “I’m a product of your wife’s past, before you.”

Derek was stunned by the sudden revelation, but he listened to her intently as she narrated the whole story.

“Grandma was only 16 when she got pregnant,” Melissa began. “Her parents were adamantly opposed to the pregnancy and forced her to terminate it. But Grandma chose to give birth.”

“Unfortunately, after the child was born, the doctors told her she would never be able to conceive again. Her parents obviously did not accept the child because they were against such an early pregnancy, so she was forced to give the child up for adoption. She had given birth to a lovely baby boy. His name is Adam, and he is my father.

“Dad’s adoptive family later sent him to study at the school where Grandma taught, and fate brought them back together. She came to meet her son secretly ever since she recognized him and never told anyone about it, not even you, because she was afraid you wouldn’t take it positively.

“Later, my father married my mother, then I was born. Michael is my son with my husband, Dean. Michael was really close to Grandma, and after she left, he became very quiet.

“However, I never expected our paths to cross this way. I’ve asked my mother and father to meet with you and tell you the truth, but they never agreed because of Grandma.”

“But I’m glad we met, Melissa,” Derek said as she wiped her tears away. “If Alice had told me about her son before, I would have wholeheartedly accepted him. However, it is not too late. May I please meet your parents?”

“Sure, Mr. Miller,” Melissa chirped. “My parents would love to see you!”

That evening, when Derek visited Melissa’s home, Adam and his wife Georgia greeted him warmly. They ate dinner together, and Adam thanked Derek for caring for his mother all these years.

Later, Adam and Georgia proposed that Derek move in with them, and he gladly agreed. This way, Derek united with Adam’s family and became a loving grandfather to Melissa. He also doted on Michael, and a couple of years later, a little girl Melissa named Alice.

In show business, a name is not just a name; it is a brand, an identity, and sometimes, a new beginning. It is, therefore, not uncommon for celebrities to change their names, a practice often seen as a rite of passage and as old as Hollywood itself.

From iconic figures like Elton John to contemporary stars like Miley Cyrus, many famous personalities have adopted names that differ from those they were given at birth. But why do celebrities change their names?

Whoopi Goldberg

Whoopi Goldberg’s name is as distinctive and vibrant as her persona. Born Caryn Elaine Johnson, she chose a stage name that would stand out as much as her performances. The name “Whoopi Goldberg” is not only memorable but also a reflection of her unique journey and identity.

Known for her iconic dreadlocks, warm smile, and incisive humor, Goldberg has carved out a significant place for herself in Hollywood. Her roles span the comedic to the dramatic, and as an African-American actress, she has been a trailblazer in the industry.

Goldberg once recounted that during her early days on stage, quick bathroom breaks were a luxury she couldn’t afford. This led to some natural, albeit embarrassing, moments that earned her a comparison to a whoopee cushion.

Embracing this bodily function, she adopted the name “Whoopi.” The last name “Goldberg” is not just a part of Whoopi Goldberg’s stage identity. It is a reflection of her multifaceted heritage. During a 2016 charity event in London, Goldberg embraced her Jewish roots.

She affirmed that “Goldberg” is indeed a family name that she holds dear, alongside her African-American heritage. Her mother, Emma Johnson, felt their original family name didn’t quite capture the essence needed for her daughter’s star potential.

Therefore, “Goldberg” was chosen, enriching her stage persona with a name that resonates with her background and the uniqueness that she brings to the entertainment world.

This decision has become a defining aspect of her legacy. Speaking of memorable names, another iconic figure who adopted a stage name is the “Rocket Man” himself, Elton John.

Elton John

Elton John, the iconic singer, chose a stage name that mirrored the flamboyance of his stage presence. Born Reginald Kenneth Dwight, he would eventually emerge as the celebrated artist we recognize.

John once reflected on his transformation, stating, “When I became Elton John, it was like a new lease of life. I didn’t particularly like being Reg Dwight. It had too many unhappy memories. I hated the word ‘Reg’, anyway. It was just a horrible name. As soon as I was Elton, it was just great. It was like a new personality.”

The singer’s early life was overshadowed by his parents’ tumultuous relationship, oscillating between cold silences and fiery disputes. Sadly, his parents’ fights often centered around his upbringing.

His father, a Royal Air Force serviceman, was often absent, and his sporadic attempts to impose discipline on his son only fueled discord with John’s mother.

John believed their strained marriage persisted solely for his sake, a notion that contributed to his distress. Seeking solace, John would retreat to his bedroom, finding comfort in his records, comics, and dreams of emulating musical greats.

At 13, his parents divorced and found new partners, a change that John welcomed, though it did little to simplify his familial relationships. He maintained a closer bond with his mother, despite periods of estrangement. John acknowledges that his childhood remains a sensitive subject for him.

Prince Harry

Similarly, Prince Harry is universally recognized by his nickname. Known the world over, Harry was born with the regal name Henry Charles Albert David. It’s true—the prince who has won over countless admirers is, in fact, a Henry.

Prince Harry shared this tidbit in a light-hearted exchange with a young winner at the WellChild Awards. “My name is Henry too,” he revealed, “but for some reason, everyone calls me Harry.” This off-the-cuff remark offers a peek into the informal naming customs of the British royal family.

While “Henry” is used in official capacities, “Harry” is the name he commonly uses. For instance, in the announcement of his engagement to Meghan Markle, he was referred to as “His Royal Highness Prince Henry of Wales.”

This practice isn’t new; it harks back to medieval times. “Harry” has traditionally been a friendly nickname for “Henry,” used even by kings of old, such as the renowned Henry VIII. This blend of formality and familiarity is a charming aspect of royal tradition.

Enter Charlie Sheen, a name that evokes both the allure of Hollywood and its attendant controversies. However, it is not the birth name of the actor. He entered the world as Carlos Irwin Estévez, son of the acclaimed actor Martin Sheen.

Charlie’s first foray into acting was at the tender age of nine, with a small part in the notable TV film, “The Execution of Private Slovik,” which featured his father. The differing surnames between father and son stem from Martin’s early struggles as an aspiring actor in New York.

Originally named Ramón Estevez, he encountered frequent mispronunciations of his name. Seeking a more accessible stage name, he honored two individuals he admired. Fulton J. Sheen was a charismatic American archbishop, while Robert Dale Martin, was a casting director at CBS.

Although he adopted “Martin Sheen” professionally, he never legally changed his birth name. In a family of performers, Charlie was the sole sibling to embrace his father’s theatrical surname. He also modified his first name to fit the Anglophone context of his career.

The reasons are as varied as the stars themselves. One common reason is the desire for privacy. A stage name can provide a layer of separation between the public persona and the private individual. For some, it helps to maintain some semblance of normalcy in their personal lives.

For celebrities, a name can be much more than just a label. It can influence their brand, shape their public image, and even play a role in their personal and professional journeys. As we’ve seen in the stories of these celebrities, the reasons for changing a name are as varied as the stars themselves.

For others, the quest is for resonance—a name that rolls off the tongue, lodges itself in the collective memory, and shines under the spotlight. It’s a name designed to emblazon billboards and embody the brand they envision.

Moreover, a name change can be a deliberate branding strategy. A new name can signal a fresh start, a transformation, or a shift in career direction. Such a change empowers celebrities to shape their image and influence public perception.

When she contacted the restaurant, the lady said that they don’t cater to vegans. It seemed like a rather reasonable request when she explained that she understood and just wanted to get some of the sides.

The employee then came back and said: “I don’t even know why vegan would even want to come to our restaurant anyway.” It wasn’t so much that they wouldn’t cater to vegans, which she didn’t appreciate. It was the fact that the woman was so rude to her.

During her candid conversation with Vanity Fair, Lizzo flat-out denied that she makes music for a”white audience.” Instead, the 34-year-old musician creates music that exemplifies her black experience. With a mix of genres flowing their Lizzo’s tunes, you can pick up on bits of hip hop, gospel, and R&B. She also has hit anthems like Good as Hell and About Damn Time that has skyrocketed to the top of the pop charts.

Lizzo has some concerns over the chart-topping songs because they were designed for a black audience but are so popular among whites. That is what “disturbs her the most.”

“This is probably the biggest criticism I’ve received, and it is such a critical conversation when it comes to black artists,” the singer said.

“When black people see a lot of white people in the audience, they think, ‘Well, this isn’t for me.

This is for them! The thing is, when a black artist reaches a certain level of popularity, it’s going to be a predominantly white crowd.”

The intelligent singer and the business woman added, “I am not making music for white people. I am a black woman. I am making music from my black experience.”

Lizzo was born Melissa Jefferson. She claims to create music “for me to heal myself (from) the experience we call life.”

The singer from Detroit knows that she is doing something powerful for young Black people. She wants there to be more love and self-love, as she said: “We need self-love and self-love anthems more than anybody.”

She added, “So am I making music for that girl right there who looks like me, who grew up in a city where she was underappreciated and picked on and made to feel unbeautiful?’” she asked before answering, “Yes.”

Lizzo also had a few choice words for the critics who are trying to paint her as a racist.

“It blows my mind when people say I’m not making music from a black perspective-how could I not do that as a black artist?”

Meanwhile, Kanye West, 45, made remarks about Lizzo’s weight on Fox News with Tucker Carlson. West said, “When Lizzo loses 10 pounds and announces it, the bots — that’s a term for like telemarketer callers on Instagram – they attack her for losing weight because the media wants to put out a perception that being overweight is the new goal when it’s actually unhealthy.

“Let’s get aside the fact of whether it’s fashion and vogue, which it’s not. Or if someone thinks she is attractive, to each his own. It’s actually clinically unhealthy, and for people to promote that… it’s demonic.”

Carlson pushed West to explain why he felt that this is being done to people of the Black race.

West had an answer in his back pocket.

“”It’s a genocide of the black race. They want to kill us in any way they can.”

About 35 years ago, when Tracy Pollan vowed that she’d be with Michael J. Fox “for better or for worse and in sickness and in health,” she meant every word.

Since her husband was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease only three years after they wed, Pollan stood by Fox and has been “there on the front lines” with him “every single day.”Teary-eyed, the retired star says of his devoted wife, “One of the things I’ll always love Tracy for is that at that moment, she didn’t blink.” Keep reading to learn more about the couple’s enviable bond!

But when he met Tracy Pollan, who played his girlfriend Ellen Reed on the award-winning comedy series that spanned seven seasons, it was game over.Pollan, now 63, and Fox, 62, were married in 1988 at the height of his career, just as his TV personality was transitioning into the film star, Marty McFly in the Back to the Future trilogy.

In 1991, the same year his comedy film Doc Holiday was released, the Emmy Award-winning actor, 29 at the time, was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease.

In November 2022, while accepting the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award, Fox recalled his painful journey with Parkinson’s disease.

“I was told I only had 10 years left to work. That was s***ty. That’s what happened. The hardest part of my diagnosis was grappling with the certainty of the diagnosis and the uncertainty of the situation,” Fox said. “I only knew it would get worse. The diagnosis was definite, the progress was indefinite and uncertain. My wife [Pollan] made it clear that she was with me for the duration. But my young son, Sam, didn’t know. He didn’t have a choice.”

The children
The couple share son Sam Michael, 34, twin daughters Aquinnah Kathleen and Schuyler Frances, 29, and Esmé Annabelle, 22.

“If I’m reaching for something, they’ll just do it and carry on,” he said of his children in an interview with Good Housekeeping (through People). “[They have learned] empathy, resilience, and also sorting out what’s important from what’s not, things like vanity.”

Fox shares a close relationship with his now adult children, who frequently make guest appearances on his Instagram account.

“Our children are beautiful, sensitive, intelligent, empathetic, independent, compassionate, adventurous, lovely people,” he captioned a Mother’s Day tribute to Pollan in May 2022. “That’s your fault. We all love you so much. Happy Mother’s Day.”

‘In sickness and in health’
In March 2023, the couple spoke with People about their continued support for one another and how they nurture their relationship.

“I think we really listen to each other; we are there for each other when we need each other,” Pollan said. “And then we also give each other space when that’s needed. Just feeling off of what’s needed at the moment and trying to be there.”

Adding to that sentiment, Fox chimed in saying, “Tracy gives our family everything that we need. Any good in our family, anything good that we do, comes from her.”

In early November 2023, the Teen Wolf star spoke on CBS Mornings and discussed how his loving wife has been his greatest champion for 35 years.

“It’s been great for me, I don’t know how it is for her,” Fox joked. “I love Tracy obviously and she’s an amazing person and has gone through a lot. I realize she has a life separate from me having Parkinson’s, from me being Alex Keaton or Marty McFly, she’s a person. I think that’s why it’s gone okay.”

The star, who voiced Chance on the 1993 family film Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey, also shared how Pollan continues to honor her wedding vows.

“I had no idea what to expect [since the diagnosis], and neither did she. She had indicated to me by saying, for better or for worse, in sickness and in health…She was able to get me through it, and go through it with me. And she has for 35 years.”

Fox adds, “She’s there in the front lines with me every single day. She never pretends to know as much as I know.”

Speaking with Today in 2020, Fox, who was overcome with emotion when talking about his Pollan, said: “One of the things I’ll always love Tracy for is that at that moment [of diagnosis], she didn’t blink.”

The multiple award-winning actor is the founder of the Michael J. Fox Foundation, which according to the organization’s website, has raised almost $2 billion towards finding a cure for Parkinson’s Disease, a progressive brain disorder.

As for Fox, his mind is still razor sharp.

“I’ll be survived by my reruns. That gave me a little bit of a dash of immortality,” adds the charming icon.

If you’ve ever tuned in to the popular ABC show “The View,” you may have noticed that the ladies on the panel aren’t exactly the warmest and most approachable individuals. Instead of fostering a positive environment, they often spread half-truths, promote their own far-left ideologies, engage in race-baiting, and make outrageous statements, especially about conservatives. It’s no wonder that the show’s ratings have been struggling, prompting ABC’s parent company, Disney, to consider selling the network.

While most shows would take this as an opportunity to reinvent themselves and improve their image, the ladies of “The View” seem determined to continue on their divisive path. The atmosphere is filled with acrimony, and they persistently promote questionable viewpoints.

Recently, Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, one of America’s most recognizable pop-culture icons of the last two decades, appeared on Bravo Network’s “Watch What Happens Live” with Andy Cohen. During the interview, Cohen asked her about the rudest celebrity she has encountered throughout her time in the public eye. The answer she gave left Cohen and the audience shocked.

Liza expressed, “When I’m singing to an audience, I’m not just singing to an audience; I’m singing to you. What I want to say to the audience is— have you ever felt like this?

Because it’s what I’m going through now. I just want people to know that I’ve been through what they’ve been through.”
