It’s been two years since we lost legendary actress and singer Doris Day who passed away at the age of 97 after becoming one of the biggest stars during the Golden Age of Hollywood.

As well as achieving fame on the silver screen, Day was also a prominent animal rights activist. She was a very compassionate person who fought for animals without a voice.

Doris was also a Grammy-winning singer.

Her songs Sentimental Journey, Secret Love, and Que Sera Sera were all inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame, while her work with animals culminated in the formation of the Doris Day Animal Foundation.

In 2019, Doris Day sadly passed away at her home in Carmel Valley, California. She died after contracting pneumonia and her death was announced by her charity, the Doris Day Animal Foundation which added that as per the star’s request there would be no funeral services, grave marker, or other public memorials.

Instead, she was cremated and had her ashes scattered.

According to her close friend and manager Bob Bashara, she didn’t want to discuss the prospect of a funeral because she struggled with death.

And there was a genuine reason for her final wishes.

“She didn’t like death, and she couldn’t be with her animals if they had to be put down. She had difficulty accepting death,” he said in a 2019 interview with People.

“I’d say we need to provide for her dogs [after she died], and she’d say, ‘I don’t want to think about it’ and she said, ‘Well, you just take care of them,’” recalls Bashara.

“She had several when her will was written, and she wanted to be sure they were taken care of. She didn’t like to talk about the dogs dying.”

From the early 70s Day was an avid campaigner for animal rights denouncing the wearing of fur and setting up the Doris Day Animal Foundation.

In 2020 she auctioned more than 1,000 of her possessions raising $3 million for the cause and even helped to set up a Horse Rescue and Adoption Center, which helps abused and neglected horses, in Texas.

Day was brought up Catholic and was a practicing Christian Scientist after marrying producer Martin Melcher.

Her only child Terrence “Terry” Paul Jorden was born during her first marriage to trombonist Al Jorden who she met when she was 16. Jorden later changed his name to Terrence Paul Melcher when he was adopted by Day’s third husband film producer Martin Melcher.

Day “drifted away” from organized religion after Melcher died in 1968, Bashara told People, but remained “a spiritual person.”

“She believed in God, and she thought her voice was God-given,” he says. “She would say, ‘God gave me a voice, and I just used it.’”

Day retired from acting in the early 70s but did return for two TV shows. Then in 1985 she hosted her own television talk show “Doris Day’s Best Friends”, on the Christian Broadcasting Network which ran for a year.

Her friend and manager Bashara says he remains unsure as to why Day was reluctant to have a funeral, but explains, “I think it was because she was a very shy person.”

He said Day knew her fans loved her from the letters she received but never understood why so many people loved her.

“She never let her celebrity affect her and who she was, and she was always the little girl from Cincinnati who was extraordinarily talented and went out in the world and did what she loved to do despite herself,” he says.

She was cremated and had her ashes scattered.

Her estate was donated to charity.

In the late 1970s, Loni Anderson was a familiar face on American television. She portrayed receptionist Jennifer Marlowe on the CBS comedy WKRP in Cincinnati.

Doctors were absolutely shocked but the parents knew their love was so strong that it helped their little one live.

David said, “Luckily I’ve got a very strong, very smart wife. She instinctively did what she did. If she hadn’t done that, Jamie probably wouldn’t be here.”

The happy parents were able to leave the hospital they way it should always be, with their both children in their arms.

Nine years later, Emily and Jamie are perfectly healthy children. Doctors were afraid Jamie’s life could be affected because of what happened but they were wrong.

Paisley Hatfield was born with a swollen brain due to her unique illness. Her parents were told that she wouldn’t live more than a few hours. But then something extraordinary occurred. Carissa and her husband were devastated to learn that their kid had a tumor after their pediatrician encouraged them to undergo a scan. They scheduled a test and remained faithful despite the circumstances.

Carissa started praying as soon as she heard of Paisley’s condition, and she asked for the assistance of her loved ones. She asked for prayers from her friends and relatives as well. Amazingly, the surgeon announced a success to Carissa once the procedure was over.

She walked into the room, sat down, and began to tremble. The man assured her that her prayers must have been heard because there was no tumor present when he went to remove it.

According to a statement issued by the hospital, “A malignant tumor was what the doctors had anticipated would happen. However, when the surgeons reached the area where the presumed tumor was seen on the scan, they discovered nothing.”

The pediatric doctors at Children’s Institution had mentally prepared themselves for the worst, which was a malignant tumor, according to a statement the hospital made on Wednesday.

The surgeons found nothing when they got to the area where the suspected tumor was shown in the image. They couldn’t contain their joy as they shared the fantastic news with the Hatfield family.

Officials from the hospital said that after closer inspection of an MRI scan, the region initially believed to be a tumor was simply an accumulation of fluid.

It’s possible that the scans revealed an issue that was later healed, but the girl’s father, Matt, says, “a man of God like I am, just waiting for some explanation, but it’s a true miracle, it’s a true healing.”

According to the BBC, 41-year-old Italian Luca published a book wherein he recounts his journey to becoming the father of Alba, a girl with Down syndrome.

During a radio interview, Trapanese explained that his case is special because it “destroys stereotypes about fatherhood, religion and family.”

In Italy, adoptions for homosexual and single parents have traditionally been a complicated affair.

“I was told that I’d only be given a child with an illness, a severe disability or with behavioral problems,” he told the BBC. “I was absolutely OK with that.”

Luca adopted Alba back in 2017 when she was just 13 days old and had already been passed upon by 20 families because of her condition.

“She brought me happiness and a sense of fulfilment. I am proud to be her dad,” he said.

Luca himself had worked in a host of care centers for people with special needs and always wanted to become a father. His passion for helping others started when he was 14, after losing his best friend to cancer.

He volunteered for organizations linked to the Catholic church, often helping people critically ill or disabled.

That was why, despite not having a partner, he decided to press forward with the adoption of Alba, who now enjoys a happy home with her father.

According to the BBC, Alba is a determined young child who can be stubborn on occasion. She loves to play and dance, and enjoys the company of other people.

“It was the first time I’d held a newborn baby. Before that moment, I had always been scared. But, when I first held Alba, I knew I was ready to be her dad,” he said. “I was overcome with joy. I felt she was my daughter straight away.”

Diann Bankson was Frank Fritz’s longtime partner. His turbulent divorce led to alcoholism, unemployment, and health risks. Even though they are no longer together, their time together left an indelible mark on them.

Frank Fritz, the host of “American Pickers,” was 25 years old when he first met Diann Bankson. The couple dated intermittently before getting engaged in 2017. In 2018, they bought an Iowa farmhouse and moved in together a year later.

Their relationship soured in November of that year, when Bankson claimed to have “walked in” on Fritz and “found him in bed with another woman.”

Fritz revealed in a conversation that Bankson had betrayed him and had even gotten a tattoo to remind him of it. But he said he still wanted to marry her.

“I was going to get married, I bought a house and a large expensive ring,” Fritz said after learning that his fiancee had been seeing someone else for the previous 2.5 years.

Fritz was admitted to the hospital on July 4, 2022, after suffering a stroke. He was discovered on the floor of his house by a friend, who then dialed for help. The 911 call, on which his companion stated, “he might be having a seizure, I’m not sure,” was obtained by The US Sun.

Fritz’s father, Bill Fritz, told reporters that his son was doing well and improving every day.

However, his rehabilitation did not go as well as the doctors had hoped. He was placed under guardianship and sent to a nursing home after being discharged from the hospital.

On August 18, 2022, his “longtime friend” requested and received approval for an emergency appointment for temporary guardianship and conservatorship on his behalf, according to rumors.

His acquaintance was appointed as his guardian, and the bank was tasked with managing his finances as his conservator.

As his conservator, the bank would be responsible for all payments to his care facility, including daily costs, health insurance, maintenance, and property taxes. He would require appropriate transportation for activities and doctor’s appointments, which the bank would have to ensure.

His friend had to submit a “initial care plan” for him in order to be his guardian, and he has participated “in decision-making since the stroke.”

To accomplish this, his guardian must make decisions about his living situation, place of residence, health, and healthcare needs; encourage participation in any activities; and maintain communication with family members and potential romantic interests. As his guardian, he would also be required to provide a yearly report.

According to his paperwork, his condition was deteriorating and he was unable to make self-adequate decisions, “without which physical injury or sickness may result.”

Documents revealed that he was in far worse shape than previously thought, and that he was unable to “make, communicate, or carry out important decisions about his own financial affairs.”

His guardian must make decisions for him until he is well enough to “get treatment for his injuries” and capable of doing so.

The court determined Fritz requires a guardian to protect his health in the future. The court ruled that “appointment of a guardian and conservator is required to prevent him from suffering immediate harm.”
