A woman’s paragliding flight to conquer her fears ended in tragedy when she slipped off her seat mid-flight and fell to her death in a Colombian forest.
Daniela Barrios, 27, uploaded a photo to her social media account prior to the deadly flight and advised her friends and family that she was finally ready to get the better of her flying phobia.
‘Join me on my crazy things,’ her captioned read. ‘Let’s overcome a fear.’
Barrios and the pilot took off from the El Castillo mountain in the Quidío municipality of Calarcá on Saturday afternoon and during the flight fell from her seat while they were flying over the Pradera Alta trail, according to the Calarcá Fire Department.

The pilot, whose name has not been released, was unable to stop and continued the flight until he was able to land.
A witness saw her fall from the paraglider and immediately sought emergency assistance.
A search-and-rescue mission was launched around 3pm and concluded around midnight when firefighter’s located Barrios’ body.
She did not show vital signs when she was found and was pronounced dead on the scene.

‘Apparently, the young woman slipped from the seat where the co-pilot is sitting,’ Calarcá fire department commander, captain Javier Arconde said, as quoted by El Tiempo newspaper.
‘The pilot had to follow his route because he had no way to stop, he was able to land well but she fell.’
Barrios, who owned a lingerie line, leaves behind a seven-year-old son.
Arconde said the cause of the accident is under investigation.

Then an unexpected tragedy struck. On the fateful day of March 16, 2009, Natasha Richardson was taking ski lessons at a ski resort located in Québec, Canada.
She had a fall at the end of the beginner’s trail and hit her head on the hard-packed snow. Her ski instructor was concerned about the blow to her head but she made light of it. Even when she was examined by the ski patrol for a second opinion on the insistence of her ski instructor, she resisted and declined their offer for further medical assistance. Natasha signed a waiver that declined further medical assistance.
She even made light of the entire incident with her concerned husband on the phone. Soon after the incident, she started experiencing anxiety, a headache, and confusion.
The resort immediately called an ambulance and took her to a nearby hospital. Once she received emergency care at the hospital, Natasha seemed to be improving but the medical staff decided to transport her to the nearby Montréal trauma center for better care.

When Neeson received word of his wife’s condition he immediately rushed to be by her side. The staff at the hospital did not recognize Neeson and did not let him through. But a kind-hearted nurse who saw the incident allowed Neeson to secretly enter his wife’s room.
Neeson saw that his wife was hooked up to life support and had been declared brain-dead. The heartbroken actor recalled his discussion with his wife about such circumstances; both of them agreed that if they were in a vegetative state they would want the other person to pull the plug.
Neeson was unsure that his wife could hear him but still continued to profess his love for her. He told her this was goodbye and promised to take her back to New York so she could say goodbye to her family.

Natasha’s family and friends gathered around her for their final goodbye. The late actress’s mother, the legendary Vanessa Redgrave was present as well.
The goodbye was heartwrenching for Neeson, his sons, and other family members but they found comfort in the fact that Richardson was an organ donor and her donation had helped sustain the lives of three people.
Now it has been a decade since her death. Her sons at the time of her passing were 13 and 12 years old each. Now they have grown into adult men who are leading their own lives.

The couple’s elder son Micheál is also an actor, following in the footsteps of his movie star parents. He has carved out a career in his own right starring in various roles over the years. The 26-year-old has played roles in major films including “Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues”, “Vox Lux,” “Big Dogs,” “Broken Symphony,” and “Paradise.”
Micheál has even starred alongside his father Liam Neeson twice. In 2019, the father-son duo acted in “Cold Pursuit” together and the subsequent year starred in “Made in Italy.”

A few years ago, Micheál changed his surname to honor his late mother. He became known as Micheál Richardson professionally. Of this change, he said, “It was mainly like a homage to my mother, a way to carry her with me. The conjecture appeared to hit fever pitch last week after the debacle surrounding the image of Kate released for UK Mother’s Day. Said picture was withdrawn by the world’s leading photo agencies amid fears that it had been manipulated – the Princess of Wales herself later admitted to self-editing it.
As a result, all manner of new questions were asked regarding Kate Middleton’s well-being. Remember, she hadn’t been seen since Christmas, and very little was said about her condition following the “planned abdominal procedure” she underwent at the London Clinic in late January.
It was initially stated by Kensington Palace that Kate would be returning to her royal engagements after Easter, though no further clarification has been given as to what exactly required surgery.
As a result, the imaginations of the public have been left to run wild, and conspiracy theories – ranging from the semi-realistic to the outright laughable – have run rampant across the internet.

Kidneys are one of the vital body organs, as their function is to eliminate waste and toxins from the body through the urine. Thus, they regulate the levels of minerals, such as calcium, and phosphate.
Additionally, kidneys regulate blood pressure as they produce essential hormones which are necessary for this function, as well as for the formation of red blood cells whose responsibility is to carry oxygen and nutrients throughout the body.
Therefore, it is of high importance to support the proper function of kidneys. Cigarettes
Smoking is a really detrimental habit, which damages all body organs, including the kidneys. Numerous studies have found a link between smoking and kidney disease, and according to the American Association of Kidney Patients (AAKP), smoking is the number one cause of ESRD (end-stage renal disease).

High Protein Diet
The consumption of excessive amounts of protein-based foods, such as red meat, increases the risk of kidney disease, as the function of these organs is to eliminate and metabolize nitrogenous wastes from the body, which are by-products of the digestion of protein.
The excessive consumption of protein chronically increases the glomerular pressure and hyperfiltration, thus raising the metabolic load of kidneys, and leading to the development of kidney issues.
Hence, you should limit the intake of red meat, and in the case of kidney issues, completely eliminate it from your diet, in order to prevent further complications.
High Intake of Salt
The regular use of high amounts of salt severely damages the kidneys and leads to various health problems.
To be more precise, kidneys metabolize even 95% of the sodium consumed through food, and in the case of excessive amounts of salt, kidneys need to work much harder to excrete it, and their function is reduced, and the body retains water. Water retention may increase the blood pressure and the risk of kidney disease.
Numerous studies suggest that the consumption of salt increases the amount of urinary protein, which contributes to the development of kidney disease. Note that all excess salt you intake causes harm to your body, especially to your kidneys, and a teaspoon contains around 6 grams.
Lack of Sleep
Numerous people ignore the importance of rest and sleep. However, a good night sleep of 6- 8 hours is essential for the body. The organ tissues renew during the sleep, so in the case of sleep deficiency, these processes will be stopped, leading to damage of body organs.

Yet, moderate consumption of drinks like coffee or tea will not be harmful, but you should reduce the intake of energy drinks, chocolate, medications, cocoa, and soft drinks.
Too Much Alcohol
This toxin leads to stress on the kidneys and liver, and its excessive amounts lead to damage of the kidneys. If you drink alcohol a lot, the uric acid will be stored in the renal tubules, leading to the tubular obstruction which elevates the risk of kidney failure.
Additionally, alcohol dehydrates the body and thus destroys the normal function of the kidneys. The advised amount of alcohol a day is a glass for women and elder people, and 2 drinks for men.
Ignoring Common Infections
Kidney damage may also result by neglecting the existence of infections, such as coughs, colds, flu, tonsillitis, and pharyngitis. If you leave a common infection untreated, you may develop kidney damage, so you should always make sure you give a proper rest to the body, use antibiotics properly, and treat these issues on time.
Kate Middleton has been cited for publishing the manipulated picture of her and her three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, on Mother’s Day.
News agencies decided to remove the image as it was proven to have been edited, and many were angry with the Princess of Wales, not only because of the picture but also because she and the palace have neither refused to comment on her health nor publish a new image that could end speculations about her well-being.
While some have criticized her recent decision, some days after the picture was published, several royal experts have come to her rescue, accusing not her but the palace and her husband of not doing enough.
The royal family has come under fire after the manipulated picture of Kate Middleton and her children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, was published on Mother’s Day on the Prince and Princess of Wales’ official Instagram account.
News agency director says Palace isn’t a trusted source after Kate Middleton picture blunder
It took a few hours before photography experts and social media users began analyzing the picture, finding several errors and examples of bad editing. Several news agencies, including the Associated Press and Getty, sent a “kill notice” (an advisory notice to remove or not use a specific photo).
Another news agency that used a “kill notice” was the well-renowned Agence France-Presse (AFP). Speaking on BBC Radio 4’s Media Show, Phil Chetwynd, AFP’s global news director, said that Kensington Palace is no longer a trusted source.
“No, absolutely not. Like with anything, when you’re let down by a source the bar is raised … We sent out notes to all our teams at the moment to be absolutely super more vigilant about the content coming across our desk — even from what we would call trusted sources,” he said, as reported by Deadline.
Chetwynd continued by revealing that several news agencies asked Kensington Palace Sunday if they could provide the original picture. However, according to him, the agencies did not receive a reply and the image was pulled.
Moreover, Chetwynd said kill notices are usually reserved for sources such as North Korea.
“To kill something on the basis of manipulation [is rare. We do it] once a year maybe, I hope less. The previous kills we’ve had have been from the North Korean news agency or the Iranian news agency,” Chetwynd added.

He concluded, “One thing that’s really important is you cannot be distorting reality for the public. There’s a question of trust. And the big issue here is one of trust, and the lack of trust and the falling trust of the general public in institutions generally and in the media. And so it’s extremely important that a photo does represent broadly the reality that it’s seen in.”
Kate Middleton broke ‘golden rule’ with Mother’s Day picture, expert says
Kate Middleton received a lot of criticism, especially after she announced that she had edited and posted the picture herself.
However, Kensington Palace’s failure to comment on the picture incident—especially to post a newly picture of Kate to assure the public that she is fine—has made conspiracy theories even more intense. Conspiracies appeared already in February as no significant updates were given on the Princess of Wales, but now, they have escalated.
Meanwhile, the fact that Kate edited the picture herself might not be the worst thing. According to The Sun’s royal photographer Arthur Edwards, the Princess of Wales has learned a “tough and very public lesson” breaking the “golden rule.”
“It’s a golden rule that while you can crop a picture, you never, ever interfere with the image itself. Kate shouldn’t have done it, and she was right to put her hand up and admit to her mistake so quickly,” Edwards said, adding that social media have been overflowing with “disgusting bile and hateful comments about her.”
“Now the conspiracies are flying thick and fast — not that these people need any encouragement. These cheap shots at Kate will be upsetting for her.”

As mentioned, many experts and members of the public have called for Kensington Palace to release a new picture of Kate—or preferably the unedited version of the Mother’s Day picture.
“Eager for an update”
Royal photographer Arthur Edwards agrees it is surprising that the palace hasn’t released the original picture, as it could be used to “draw a line” under the incident.
“But of course this comes amid all the speculation as to what’s happening with Kate, who, bar a brief picture yesterday and last week, none of us has seen since December. So many people — myself included — have been eager for an update on the Princess of Wales’s health since she underwent abdominal surgery in January.”
Edwards added, “A bodged attempt at photographic manipulation may have been, but I still think it’s a delightful image. Kate looks radiant and so proud on Mother’s Day, surrounded by her loving kids. It’s full of uplifting love and emotion.”
Even though people may be upset with how Kate and The Firm have handled the situation, it appears that, before the mishap, the public’s support of the princess was still strong.
A newly published Ipsos poll, commissioned for The Evening Standard, shows that Kate Middleton is the UK’s favorite royal. According to the publication’s poll, which was carried out before the publication of the controversial photo on Mother’s Day, 38 percent of Brits like Kate Middleton, most of all royal family members.

According to the poll, the Princess of Wales is the most popular among women, 44 percent, compared to 32 percent among men. Moreover, Half of those aged 55 to 75 also named Kate their favorite.
Royal experts accuse Palace of not protecting Kate Middleton
In the same poll, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s popularity plummeted by three points, with Harry now at 11 percent and Meghan at seven percent.
Several royal experts have argued that Kate needs to take responsibility for her actions. At the same time, royal expert Hilary Fordwich told Fox that the palace is responsible for what she calls “yet another public relations disaster.”
“The certainty is that a ‘slimmed down monarchy’ means fewer are guiding the royals and those who are aren’t as media savvy as they need to be,” Fordwich said. “In our fast-paced world with tech-savvy media outlets, the palaces need to hire the best and brightest in such fields.”
Although Kate had to apologize, the royal expert pointed out that Kate Middleton showed “integrity.”
“While this certainly isn’t ‘business as usual’ nor what we would expect from a royal household… it shows great humility to admit one’s mistakes,” Fordwich continued. “Others might have either remained silent or tried to blame another. Kate issued a straight-up, no-nonsense apology. Many could learn a lesson from such.”
Royal expert and author Tom Bower took it a step further, accusing the palace of not protecting Kate at all.

He said that the Princess of Wales isn’t surrounded by wise people and that the picture should have been handled by professional staff at Kensington Palace.
“People around the world just want to bring her down because it gives them pleasure. And then, when she did, they should have got a professional photographer in to make sure there were no hiccups like has now occurred,” Bower told The Sun.
“She has been under terrible pressure to perform”
He continued: “She’s undergone the most very serious operation imaginable. She needs a long time to recover. And I fear that she has been under terrible pressure to perform and instead of protecting her, her staff in Kensington Palace, failed to give her the support and protection she needs.”
Tom Bower concluded that Kate Middleton made an “honest mistake,” which isn’t a big deal at all. He advised the royal family not to release any more pictures and instead focus on helping Kate fully recover.
“There are republicans and mischief makers who want to do everything now, to destroy the monarchy, to destroy Britain as it is today, who don’t share our values and see Kate as a soft target, an easy target and another target to seek to undermine British values and British tradition,” he added.
The controversial picture incident surrounding Kate Middleton isn’t the first royal scandal. Over the decades, many other things have rocked the royal family at its core, and while the Princess of Wales hasn’t been directly involved in one, she still knows how to learn from her mistake.

Moreover, Kate Middleton revealed it was “nerve-wracking” to marry into the royal family. However, she would be “willing to learn quickly and work hard.”
“It’s obviously nerve-wracking, because I don’t know the ropes really, William is obviously used to it, but I’m willing to learn quickly and work hard. I really hope I can make a difference, even in the smallest way. I am looking forward to helping as much as I can.”
Kate Middleton knows how she is helping herself in the best way possible through this very tricky situation. However, what is clear is that there are more questions raised every day–at least until we get to see Kate Middleton in public the next time.
