The magnificent and shy singer Susan Boyle has her first boyfriend at age 53 — a Connecticut doctor she met on her recent U.S. tour who may soon visit her in Scotland.

“That’s the plan,” Boyle’s spokeswoman, Nicola Phillips, said Monday. “She met someone when she was in America and the idea is that he can come here.

Boyle and the doctor met at a hotel in Clearwater, Florida, Phillips said, adding that Boyle is “definitely” happy to have met someone.

The church volunteer from a small Scottish town became a global sensation when she sang the “Les Miserables” number “I Dreamed a Dream” on TV contest “Britain’s Got Talent” in 2009. At first she seemed uncomfortable on stage, but she silenced skeptics as soon as she started to sing.

Boyle said at the time she had never been kissed.

The contrast between her timid, occasionally nervous manner and her matchless soaring voice won Boyle millions of fans throughout the world, and she has followed her TV breakthrough with a string of successful record releases. She has received an honorary doctorate, performed for Pope Benedict XVI and wowed audiences in Las Vegas.

But the pressures of performing have sometimes overwhelmed her, and she was treated for nervous exhaustion after her “Britain’s Got Talent” run focused national attention on her.

Boyle told The Sun newspaper that the doctor she met in the U.S. was a “perfect gentleman” and that they enjoyed each other’s company. She said the relationship was in “early days,” but she hopes he will visit her in Scotland.

The singer was diagnosed last year with Asperger’s syndrome, a form of autism, and had learning disabilities as a child.

Susan Boyle is by the far the biggest name to emerge from Simon Cowell’s hit TV show Britain’s Got Talent.

“But if I had a man friend it would be purely platonic – I’ve been on my own too long now to get married.”

In the past, Susan had plans to become a foster mum because was not able to adopt, given her age.

Reba McEntire’s Opry Anniversary

McEntire recently celebrated her own Grand Ole Opry anniversary. The Oklahoma native became a member on January 17, 1986.

“The Grand Ole Opry is a home,” McEntire says. “It’s a family. It’s like a family reunion, when you come back and get to see everybody.”

Unlike some other artists, McEntire waited almost a decade after her debut to become a member. She first performed on the iconic stage on September 17, 1977, although that night didn’t go quite as planned.

“I was supposed to sing two songs,” McEntire recalls (via The Tennessean). “But they came to me when I got there and said, ‘Oh, we’re going to have to cut you down to one song because Dolly Parton just pulled up into the driveway and she’s going to take one of your songs.”

McEntire has been an integral part of the Opry since her debut. In 2018, she inducted Dustin Lynch into the Opry. And in 2024, she invited Wilson to become a Grand Ole Opry member.

At another point in the concert, Jackson invited his wife of 45 years, Denise, to dance with him on stage. Alan was singing “Remember When” and asked his band to play without him. He then summons his wife to join him on stage for a sweet slow dance. They shared a kiss before Alan returned to the microphone to finish the song.

Denise has traveled with Alan during his Last Call: One More For The Road tour and can usually be seen in the audience. Alan has been known to praise her from stage, sharing stories from his career and credit her with his success. But her appearance on stage with him made for a special moment.

Alan and Denise Jackson said “I do” in 1979, more than a decade before Alan became a star. Though their marriage has been full of ups and downs, Alan credits his wife with his success – not only because she was the one who connected him to George Jones, but because she has stood by him through the highs and lows of his career.

In 2008, Denise shared the secret to their successful marriage, saying that time together is a must. “Even if it’s just getting up 30 minutes before the children do in the morning, having our coffee and being together uninterrupted. Or sitting on the porch in the afternoon for 10 minutes to catch up on our day,” she said.

Alan Jackson Concert Shut Down After He Tells Fans To “Climb Over Them Fences”.

Alan Jackson’s concert at Two Step Inn on Saturday night got shut down, albeit temporarily, after the country music legend encouraged fans to “climb over them fences.”

Alan Jackson performed in front of a packed house at the Two Step Inn music festival in Georgetown, Texas, on Saturday night (April 5). Alan was the headliner for the first night of the two-day event. His appearance marked his first at the famed festival and likely his last performance there as he looks toward retirement.

Jackson’s set took a wild turn as he sang his 2008 hit “Good Time.” During the song, Alan encouraged fans to “climb over them fences and dance up and down these aisles.” He told the crowd, “I don’t care. Let’s have a good time.”

But, event organizers had issue with Alan’s request. As fans climbed fences and gathered near the stage, organizers cut Alan’s mic and shut down the show, according to attendees.

 

Footage captured by concertgoers shows the 66-year-old country music legend encouraging fans to have a good time.

Fans hesitated at first, but Alan encouraged them, saying, “Come on, y’all! Let’s have a good time!” Attendees are then seen jumping over barricades and dancing in front of the stage as a lone security guard seems at a loss as to how to handle the situation. Jackson tells one security guard, “Come on, man. Let the girl dance.” Video also captured the moment Alan returns to the stage to apologize.

According to attendees, once Alan finished singing “Good Time,” organizers paused the show for “5 to 7 minutes” while everyone was removed from the prohibited area. Many fans took issue with the move and defended Alan’s request for fans to enjoy themselves.

“The 5-minute pause during the show really ruined the show. If no one is getting hurt, then just let them be,” one person wrote. Another commented, “If Alan says it’s not a security issue, it ain’t a security issue.”

Other comments read, “Most disrespectful buzzkill I’ve ever seen cutting Alan off [sic]. Two Step Inn knows how to ruin a show,” “Imagine not letting people have a good time!” and “One of his last shows in Texas and C3 cuts his microphone and paused him mid show. Not a good look.”

Also at the 2012 Kennedy Center Honors tribute to blues legend Buddy Guy, Beth Hart and Jeff Beck left the audience spellbound with a haunting, emotionally charged rendition of Etta James’ “I’d Rather Go Blind.” Hart, a force of nature, poured raw, aching vulnerability into every word, her voice trembling with heartbreak before soaring into full-throated, gospel-fired passion. Meanwhile, Jeff Beck’s guitar wept and wailed in response, his fingers coaxing out bends and sustain so expressive they felt like a second voice.

Dressed in a sleek black dress, Hart clutched the mic, eyes closed, as if channeling the song’s pain, while Beck, in his signature sleeveless shirt, stood beside her, his Stratocaster crying with every blues-drenched note. The sparse, smoky arrangement—just bass, drums, and Beck’s aching guitar—left space for Hart’s voice to crack and roar, turning the tribute into a moment of pure catharsis.

By the final, trembling note, the audience erupted in a standing ovation, Buddy Guy himself visibly moved, as Hart and Beck proved that the blues, at its core, is about laying your soul bare—and they did just that.

They made country music history with their cover of “Does He Love You”.

It was “legends only” in 2021 when Reba McEntire and Dolly Parton finally recorded a duet together.

It might come as a surprise, but the two country music queens had never collaborated on a song together. In 2021, the legends joined forces to cover “Does He Love You” the classic duet originally sung by McEntire and Linda Davis, released in 1993.

The track, written by Sandy Knox and Billy Stritch, is about the wife and mistress of a man, singing to each other, asking: “Does he love you, like he loves me?” McEntire and Parton’s version was a single off of The Voice Coach’s 2021 three-disc compilation release, Revived Remixed Revisited. The song was a hit with fans and debuted in the Top 50 of Billboard‘s Country Airplay Chart.\

“It turned out really good,” Parton told Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live back in July 2021. “I have always wanted to sing with her and I don’t know why we never did it until now. But we really sounded good together and I think the fans are going to like it.”

About their duet, McEntire said, “It’s amazing that we’ve never done a duet. We’ve never [sung] together. I’ve gone on programs to sing for her, and she’s done that for me. But to never sing a song together is kinda weird.”

Not only did McEntire and Parton collaborate on the song together, they also filmed a music video for it. In the clip, the two of them meet up in a club together, sitting at a table, each with a drink in their hand as they sing to one another, before eventually taking to the club’s stage for the song’s emotional ending.

“My favorite part of shooting the video with Dolly was getting to visit with her in between shots,” The Voice Coach continued. “Second was singing with her. But to get to hang out and just visit like girlfriends was so much fun… I loved the play acting we got to do. [At first] we were women at odds, and not liking each other. But by the end we were like ‘Ah you can have him, I don’t want him.’ It was a lot of fun.”
