The initial official statue commemorating Diana, Princess of Wales will be revealed today by her sons Prince William and Prince Harry at the Sunken Garden at Kensington Palace. Aligned with her 60th birthday, the commemoration of the deceased princess was revealed in 2017 on the 20th anniversary of her passing, yet was delayed because of the continuing pandemic. Revealing the statue jointly on that day, Harry made a special trip to the U.K. just for this occasion.
Since the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s interview with Oprah Winfrey in March, tensions in the royal family have been elevated, bringing the issue of the brothers’ relationship to the forefront. Meeting for the first time since the interview at Prince Philip’s funeral in April, it seems like the reunion could be a step towards reconciliation for the brothers. According to certain reports, body language expert Adrianne Carter observed signs that suggest Harry and William are starting to mend their rift.
Their following encounter centers on their cherished mother, as royal historian Robert Lacey revealed in his book “Battle of Brothers: William, Harry and the Inside Story of a Family in Tumult,” Diana had her sons pledge to always stay close and not allow anyone to come between them.
In the year 2017, the princes also requested the production of the documentary “Diana, Our Mother: Her Life and Legacy.” Their mother seems to play a major role in bringing them together in life, and could potentially continue to do so even after her passing by helping improve their relationship. Let’s have a glance.

Despite the distinctions between them, both Prince William and Prince frequently present a unified approach when dealing with their mother. In recent years, they have focused on commemorating her legacy, with the statue unveiled today being a significant tribute, along with two films about her life.
Nevertheless, in regards to different aspects of their lives, the siblings have clearly moved in opposite directions. After the rift between them reached a peak in the aftermath of Harry and Meghan Markle’s controversial interview with Oprah Winfrey, it appears that they may be on the path to making amends. This is undeniably something their mother, Diana, Princess of Wales, would have desired. Actually, it seems that she got them to make a promise when they were young.
In the 2020 book “Battle of Brothers,” historical expert Robert Lacey discusses the close relationship between William and Harry formed during their early years. Following a conversation with Diana’s psychic Simone Simmons, Lacey explains that Diana also had her sons vow to always stay “best friends” regardless of the circumstances. According to Express, Simmons states in the book that Diana told her sons.
You must give me your word that you will forever remain as each other’s closest companions. And always make sure no one interferes with your relationship.
