Vocal group The Kingdom Tenors auditioned for the ninth season of Britain’s Got Talent with Josh Groban’s You Raise Me Up, a song choice that judge Simon Cowell was initially not too keen about.

The Kingdom Tenors were a group of men who could be easily dismissed on the surface. They were all incredibly handsome. The group looked especially sharp in their suits. Ladies in the audience were swooning. Simon clearly thought that they were untalented singers who were just a bunch of pretty faces.

Their song choice really didn’t help. The lead singer said they picked You Raise Me Up, an epic ballad popularized by Josh Groban. Simon rolled his eyes. What a cliche song choice! Expectations were pretty low at that point. And then they began to sing.

The Kingdom Tenors’ arrangement was simply beautiful. It’s already an amazing song, and Josh Groban’s powerful vocals have made it iconic. Somehow, though, the Kingdom Tenors were able to breathe new life into it. They all sang in perfect harmony.

Maybe it was the additional voices that gave it such raw power. The hymn’s spiritual themes felt more poignant than ever. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house!

Simon was forced to admit that he was wrong. That’s a huge accomplishment in itself! He praised their vocal ability and talked about how impressed he was. The Kingdom Tenors were clearly grateful. After all, not everyone can make Simon Cowell speechless!
